Kangkong Belacan

Was what we had for lunch today among other things. Kan ku gambar malas ku karang balek2 ku meliat *hehe* Accompanying that, me and Aby had Hainanese chicken rice along with keropok and erm a rather disappointing acar - first and last lah tu for me. 

It was an interesting day. No sun this week pasal weather has been predicted to be rainy. And rained it did, well drizzled more like. We finally bought some groceries including beras dari Thailand kecintaan ku. I simply can't stomach other types of rice, pasal either it's too karas for me or simply nya orang kitani inda masuk rasa (ada kah banar tu that phrase bwahaha).

I bought me loads of sayur to masak since I'm officially sangal of broccoli and carrots and kacang ijau. I also bought oodles of noodles yang kering so I can make mee goreng whoohoo! Can't wait. Just hope it can thrive in our little fridge. Biasa dirumah esbok dua yang basar hantap, datang sini macam mini fridge dibilik my parents *LOL* that's life out of your comfort zone!

What made the day more interesting was the fact that in the restaurant at first nda ramai orang BUT udah nya datang, orang Brunei saja hehe and even though at our table it was only me and Aby, kami memang nyanyah *hehe* apalagi the table of 9 students AND another table of two families dari Brunei. Atu riuh, it felt like I was back home! Even the waiter said to us sana orang Brunei sini pun orang Brunei hehe kira ramai jua kamu ani bejurit! 

Well man, dimana ada makanan yang brings us close to home, that's where people like us are most likely to flock that's all I can say. 

Ok then peeps, saya mau rehat dulu. Perut dah kenyang, kadiaku pun senyum lebar. 

Only thing was, I wish ada sefamili kedayan tadi atu in that restaurant, you know cakap kedayan hantap. I think that would've been ultra cool! Oh and don't say I'm stereotyping kah ucap2 kah because in me ada kedayan blood tau hehe and chinese and melanau to name others. 

Bah kan berehat ku daulu ah? Till then tata! 

Been a while

It truly has hasn't it. About a month approximately. 

I trust everyone's been doing fine. Don't worry I may not be updating my blog but i am still a very active blog hopper *hehe*

Things in the UK have been alright, I'm adjusting but I still miss Brunei especially the food like mad. So much so that I've been trying to emulate food from home. Ganya nyanta payah hantap mencari bahan2 sini ani, ada pun mahallllllll brabis! 

I've been to food blogs most of the time untuk dapatkan ilham on what to cook everyday that suits both me and Aby's palate. Sometimes it's not that easy! There are some Malaysian restaurants here but as you'd know, prices are not like pasar malam Gadong or CA Mohd! How I wish.

Occasionally we do order out but honest to God, sangal ku sudah with the Indian cuisine and Arab cuisine sini ani. Sometimes even the sight of either type of restaurants can pretty much make me gag. And yang paling out lagi kadang2 naik marah ku mliat hahaha 

My family will be arriving sometime in May, before that a cousin of mine along with her family will be staying for a week after she goes for her course in Holland. So that should be fun! I haven't been out much mainly pasal here walaupun usulnya matahari atu terang menderang it is still friggin' cold which I absolutely loath! Dalam rumah pun kadang-kadang kesajukan, seriously I don't have skin built for the cold *LOL* 

A lot of students are on Easter break at the mo and I had Nadiah (Nui's sister) over about a week ago which was fab since it's always nice to meet and hear and go bejabir bibiran with someone dari kampong *eseh* sudah atu. 

This Friday Aby will start his long holiday till Monday yeay! So my aim is...to go makan lagi at the Malaysian restaurant and shop for groceries untuk buat bermacam2 makanan. I've bookmarked some that I reaaallly want to make and not to mention make people who chat with me taisliur sedangkan they are in Brunei and pasar malam dapat diaga AND harga makanan atu 2 ringgit saja! haha Oh well, I got to learn someday right and when better than now. 

If people are wondering why I blab about food constantly, here AND on facebook, paham2 lah kenapa *wink*wink* I'm doing alright, just need to eat proper and all but now that my appetite is slowly coming back, I've been wanting to make the food I want to eat!

Random thoughts

Hello everyone, it's been so long huh?

Well seeing that there's not much happenings here, I have decided not to 'entertain' people with my daily activities since it's basically monotonous *hehe*

Today the weather's gloomy though *boo* aku atu kan bejalan skajap buy bread. Yesterday morning was lovely, well at least banyak sunshine and terasa jua the rays arah mua. You must be wondering why this is sedangkan di Brunei people complain panas hehe well truth be told I am never one to be tolerant of the cold. Back home, I only use the aircon time panas brabis sampai I can't sleep. My mom wonders how I keep up with the heat but I guess as I got older my body is just like that - random banar ni so bear with me people.

Anyway, since yesterday was Maulidur Rasul (s.a.w) Aby was on holiday from work meaning he had a long weekend and we decided to go out to this place called Bayswater in search of kadai cina yang probably bejual tinned food and minuman yang berkenan ke jiwa saya sekarang. We wanted to go on Sunday to this Supasave-ish chinese store 16 minutes drive away from here but after brunch we got lazy so decided to stay in instead. I think it rained jua that day so lagi tah mbari malas kan jalan.

So off we went, found a parking space and leisurely walked round the area. It was sunny but anginnya!! It was sooo kuat and macam eh abis rambut ku baik jua beikat. When we found the place, it was called Oriental shop I think *correct me if I'm wrong* and once kami masuk the first thing Aby pointed out was 'Yang, 100 plus!' LOL you can imagine my eyes macam kanak2 masuk candy store or imagine those Japanese anime when they get excited mata dorang basar and shiny. 

So apalagi ambil bakul, and at every familiar thing we saw, I gave out a little excited scream *LOL* we found Yeo's soya bean in which kami bali sepati - awu mcm shopping untuk raya. Well basically macam2 minuman lah ku bali - all yeo's products haha kicap manis cap kipas udang pun saya beli, puas hati ku since me no likes the ABC one - when you are the cook you tend to realize that tukar brand pun makes a big difference or it's just me wanting things to be the same like back home. 

Either way, once we've got the shopping done, I was a happy bunny. Owh I even found mata kucing - 99p for 150gm. Antam! bali tia. I ate some in the car, geleng2 Aby *hehe* I found bittergourd as well (sayur peria) which I love to eat but Aby? No no no..I didn't buy it pasal it was huge! As much as I like it I don't think I could've finished it alone. So I guess I'll have to wait for my mom to get here, since my family that's coming loves bittergourd so I'm going to make sure Mama cooks it for us.

After putting the groceries in the car, we went back to find a place to eat. There was this Arabic restaurant yang basar sign nya diluar HALAL RESTAURANT so we had our lunch there. Aby's been there before so he knows it's ok. Halfway through lunch, I already felt sleepy *LOL* luan jua ngaleh nya but it wasn't only me, Aby was tired too after lugging the carton of soya bean all the way back to the car - imagine jalan dari Mall ke parking tampat Excapade, yeah it was about that far. 

So after food we went back home. I'm thinking if it's sunny this weekend I want to go to the park untuk sesi bergambar. My 1000D ksian because it hasn't been used much at all. Indakan gambar mua kami dua saja right? So I'm thinking pics at the park would be nice. 

Alright then, I think that's the ramblings I can come up with today. It's been a while since I've blogged and having something to blog about feels gooood. LOL Owh on another note, much to the surprise and maybe even horror of others, I've purchased a 1000 piece puzzle. I'm doing alright, with one quarter of it being done. It's a hobby I genuinely liked during my teenage years and much to the believe of others, did not get spurred on by boredom here *or maybe it did* haha but yeah it's fun. Gets my brain going so there's nothing wrong with that. 

I had an itch to scrap within last week but it stopped short because truthfully I haven't the slightest inspiration to do it. I did love seeing Vivs, Alin and Mac go crazy shopping in Singapore that looked fun! I was thinking of bringing Nui on a day trip to Singapore one day...and go to Lucky Plaza for Nasi ayam penyet! LOL sia2pun. soon Singapore..soon.
