I noticed my little bro's nickname on MSN had this - ilysm - For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what in the world it meant. Until I saw one of my student's MSN nicks bearing the same thing except it was like this - ilysmd.

Flabbergasted, I racked my brains to uncover the mystery of these jumbled up letters. Until it struck me silly. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! My God!

Did I find it cute? Heck no, it's friggin' driving me nuts! First there's SMS language that I have to personally deal with in my student's compositions. Occasionally, there'd be a stray 'u' or 'i' here and there - it used to annoy me but not to the point of insanity because I have drilled them like a drill sergeant on using this.

Now that I've seen an upgraded massacre of the English language, God forbid my students will be using that in their coming compositions. If they do, rest assured that piece of paper will be shredded to bits and pieces and used as paper mache!!

I won't be surprised in the next five years, students will be using primitive drawings to write a 250 word essay.
